Prof. Pamuk Algi and Prof. Algi will participate in COST actions.

Our university's Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Chemistry faculty member Prof. Dr. Melek PAMUK ALGI and Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics faculty member Prof. Dr. Fatih ALGI have been selected as 'Activists and Working Group Members' in two separate actions under the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) program. The first COST action, titled 'Adaptive and Acquired Resistance in Gastrointestinal Cancers - Current and Emerging Solutions: CA24162-AdResCanCER', focuses on cancer treatment, while the second action, 'European Commission on Photoantimicrobial Tests (CA124127-PanEuCOPT)', focuses on photoantimicrobial testing.

Academics from Aksaray University (ASÜ), with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology (TÜBİTAK) and the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (BOREN), and Aksaray University itself, have enabled their participation in COST actions related to their ongoing R&D projects, providing as many components as needed. Pamuk Algı stated that the AdResCanCER action aims to bring together leading European researchers to develop current and innovative solutions for the effective treatment of gastrointestinal cancers such as oral, esophageal, gastric, urethral, and liver cancers. Furthermore, Prof. Algı mentioned that in the PanEuCOPT action, they are working on photoantimicrobial assays with light-activated properties developed for the eradication of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The performance of ASÜ academics and their achievements, registered with national patents, played a significant role in their participation in these actions. Academics expressed their excitement at having the opportunity to contribute to these actions on behalf of our university, working with teams of young researchers. Professor Pamuk Algı stated that by participating in these actions and developing international collaborations, they would have the chance to test the materials they designed abroad, adding that this was also a promising development for our university.

The academics have previously served as Turkish Representative Members in the D38 and CM1006 actions, as well as as Working Group members in some COST actions such as D36, CA21145, and CA20129. In the last two years, ASÜ academics Prof. Pamuk Algı and Prof. Algı have secured four national patents for ASÜ, registered by the Turkish Patent Institute, due to the industrial applicability of their projects and research in the COST action field.
